Chapter 14

“You really are still lingering.” Mo Zhen looked at the faint light of the candle on the table, although sarcastic remarks were coming out of his mouth, his scrunched up eyebrows had finally relaxed.

(TN: What it means by this is that Ah Yao’s spirit is still on Earth, he’s confirming that she really hasn’t passed on or disappeared)

The sound echoed in the darkness,  Ah Yao’s figure slowly appeared in front of Mo Zhen, “I’ll say it again, until I remember who I am, I won’t leave.”

Mo Zhen raised his eyebrows, Ah Yao’s figure looked like a white hazy light in contrast to the black darkness around her, she folded her arms as she floated in the air, condescending looking at Mo Zhen, like a … … female rogue.

“Your entrance was very cool and elegant, now could you please turn on the lights?”

Ah Yao: “…”

She huffed angrily to Mo Zhen’s side, and articulating slowly word by word, she said: “No!

The corners of Mo Zhen’s mouth lifted up, it was rare when his temper did not flare up. The faint candlelight from the cake sitting in the dining room table was the only source of light nearby, although the room was still pitch-black, it did not prevent Mo Zhen from moving to find the light switch.

Seeing Mo Zhen stand up from the sofa, and attempting to turn on the lights, Ah Yao stopped in her tracks: “Wait, at least blow out the candles first!”

Mo Zhen looked back at Ah Yao, his mouth hung with a smile, “Do you mean to make me walk all the way to the dining room in the pitch dark?”

Ah Yao opened her mouth to retort back, but no sound came out. Finally, she took the little cake from the dining room and drifted towards the living room. The cake floated in the air with two burning candles on top of it; when Mo Zhen saw the cake flying by itself leisurely towards him, he felt a little uncomfortable.

Although he was used to it, Mo Zhen felt like it was illusion when saw it up close.

Unconsciously turning away, Mo Zhen had only the back of his head towards the cake. After the cake floated into the living room, it fell softly on the coffee table, Ah Yao looked at the back of Mo Zhen’s head and snorted, “You just didn’t want to get up and move.”

The orange candle flame reflected a shadow on the wall, Mo Zhen came back and with a puff, he blew out the candles. In the next moment, the living room flashed and the room was bright as ever.

“How could you be so careless and let the candles go out!” Ah Yao looked at the left over smoke from the two burnt candles, frowned and the candles were lit once again.

Mo Zhen: “…”

He went to the table and bent down, and repeated the same wishes he had asked for in the Ferris wheel, “I hope I can get 5 million, amen.”

Ah Yao: “…”

It seemed like he really really wanted the 5 million.

Having to blow the candles out once again, Mo Zhen had a slight headache when he looked at the cake. Such a big cake, how could he eat it? Thinking about the other celebrities in the company who had been endlessly reprimanded by Tang Qiang for drinking cups of water, his

heart felt a little a guilty.

The plastic knife on the side of the cake shook and jumped out to start cutting the cake. The cake had been ordered by Tang Qiang, it was Mo Zhen’s favourite fruit mousse cake. Ah Yao looked at the tempting fruits and cream on the cake, she swallowed her bitter tears as she cut the delicious looking cake, and placed it in front of Mo Zhen, “Happy Birthday.”

Mo Zhen looked at the big piece of cake floating in the air, considered a moment, and finally reached out, “Thank you.”

“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have insisted on going to the amusement park.” Maybe it was because she had gotten used to Mo Zhen’s presence every day, she had forgotten that Mo Zhen was, in fact, a very very famous celebrity that all the girls in the country worshipped.

Mo Zhen pierced a fruit with his fork and placed it into his mouth, “Where did you go afterwards?”

Ah Yao was a little frightened, honestly replied: “I was too tired to fly back, so I rested in the amusement park.”

Sure enough, it was exactly the situation Master had explained. Swallowing the piece of fruit, Mo Zhen cut a small piece of the cake and pulled out his phone.

The screen was full of messages from family and friends who wished him a happy birthday, Mo Zhen wrote a short thank you message, and mass-sent it to everyone. The paper plane, which symbolized the sending of the message, flew for a moment before showing that it had been successful.

He had only put the phone down for two seconds when the phone started buzzing again, Mo Zhen looked at the screen, the caller ID, Du Du, appeared on the screen.

Ah Yao’s eyes looked at the screen, “your niece?”

“Hello?” Mo Zhen picked up the phone, but before he could speak, the clear voice of a young child resonated through the phone, “Little  uncle, happy birthday ~ ~”

Mo Zhen smiled and said replied in the same tone: “Du Du is a very good girl ~”

Du Du at the other end of the phone giggled twice, and lowered her voice to whisper: “But little uncle, you are not a good person, you went to the amusement park alone, and didn’t even take Du Du with you.”

Mo: “…”

This matter had spread so quickly that even Du Du knew, don’t tell me that she had Weibo too?

… …children these days were really terrifying.

Du Du and Mo Zhen talked randomly for five or six minutes, until the phone was handed to Du Du’s mother,  “Xiao Zhen, come over to have dinner with us, mother and father have already invited you so many times.”

“Got it.”

“And also hurry up and dump that Song Ni girl, dad said your eyesight has gotten much worse.”

Mo: “…”

Du Du’s mother had already stated what she had wanted, and Du Du robbed the phone back, “Small Uncle, Du Du doesn’t like her, Du Du does not want her to be my little aunt!” Du Du said, “Do  not let her be my little aunt!”

Mo: “…”

You really think too much.

“I do not have any relationship with Song Ni, if dad has time to worry about these things, tell him to go worry about his diabetes.”

“I do not have diabetes, dead boy!” Mo Zhen had just finished his sentence when the sound of an angry roar appeared on the other side of the phone, and then the phone was taken away from Du Du, “I’m still at a fresh age, you don’t even know how handsome and elegant I was when I was your age! ”

Mo: “…”

“En, that’s why every day you wake up beside your handsome self.”  He calmly spit out.

“If I were not handsome, how could you be so handsome?” The man at the other end was silent for a while before finally speaking.

“Everyone says I look like my mom.”

With a beep, the phone was hung up, Mo Zhen looked at the display “end of call” screen, put the phone on the table, and continued to eat the cake on the plate.

” You have a good relationship with your family, ” Ah Yao muttered, starring at the phone on top of the table.

This sentence was like an occasional breeze in a calm and silent day, in short, a series of ripples were stirred up in Mo Zhen’s heart, making him feel a little uncomfortable.

The fork by his lips paused for a moment, and Mo Zhen swallowed the cake into his stomach. “I was not a very obedient child. I often quarreled with my dad.”

Ah Yao slightly lowered her head, and said quietly as if she was talking to herself, but Mo Zhen could still hear, “But  they still remember your birthday, they even call to wish you happy birthday.”

And I, I can’t even remember my own family, nevertheless my birthday.

Suddenly, the cake had tasted a little bitter in his mouth. Mo Zhen put down his plate and looked sideways at Ah Yao, “Your family will remember your birthday, they will remember you.”

Ah Yao’s heart felt warm, even a blush started creeping onto her cheeks. She looked up at the unexpecting Mo Zhen, her voice sounding as if she was on the verge of crying, “Mr. Mo, I really want to go up and kiss you.”

Mo: “…”

Maintaining the exact same expression, Mo Zhen looked at Ah Yao and smiled: “Keep this feeling to yourself, because it will only remain an idea.”

Ah Yao “…”

Mo Zhen had finally finished the huge piece of cake Ah Yao had cut for him, but the remaining four-fifths, no, maybe five out of five, Mo Zhen wanted to freeze them in refrigerator to save for later, but because a large number of snacks had just been delivered, the refrigerator has no empty shelves to use.

Look at the fruit cake on the table, Mo Zhen fought an internal battle in his head, and made a tough decision, he’ll just let it sit here then…

In the second floor bathroom, Mo Zhen held his computer as he began to surf the internet. First of all, he needed to go on Weibo, to accept and thank everyone’s birthday blessings.

In addition to the overwhelming amount of birthday blessings, the afternoon Amusement Park topic was still trending. #Handsome butnofriends, #with my friends, rarely were these two topics even on the hot and trending list.

(TN: placed those hashtags there cause it makes more sense for us English social media babies)

Mo Zhen opened some of the comments, and looked at them one by one. He scrolled through 4 or 5 pages of similar comments before losing interest, and finally scrolled the mouse to the red x in the upper right hand corner when suddenly a wave of notifications swallowed his computer.

And every time he refreshed the page, the amount of notifications multiplied in growth.

Mo Zhen raised his eyebrows.  Was there something wrong with the computer?

Of course, it had to be the computer’s fault.

With this belief, Mo Zhen opened one of the messages in the upper right hand corner. He felt like he was a warrior going into battle.

Weibo was a platform that entertainment gossip lived and breathed on; because of Weibo, the everyday life of a star could be known by everybody in the country. Almost every day there would be a new hot gossip news story, with a considerable number of fans getting involved with the gossip.

During  the time before Mo Zhen has just received this wave of notifications, only two minutes had passed after the entertainment hot gossip had been reported.

You cannot believe this! Song Ni was reported to be cheating on Emperor Mo! Just an hour ago, a famous blogger reportedly spotted Song Ni with a very friendly male companion in a bar! The two behaved exceptionally close. I finally understand why the Emperor spent his birthday alone in the amusement park! ┬┬ ﹏┬┬

There was a picture below the Weibo post, the dim lights in the picture made it a little unclear, but it was still very evident that it was indeed Song Ni and her new man. She held hands with the mysterious man, probably her new boyfriend from what the blogger had said.

Although the blogger did not @ Mo Zhen or Song Ni on Weibo , but after reading the post, the fans had already ripped off Song Ni’s skin savagely with their comments, and a bloody war appeared before Mo Zhen.

Even dare to cheat on their god, there was no way you could live to see tomorrow’s sunrise! – However, most of them had forgotten that they never believed that Song Ni was Mo Zhen’s girlfriend in the first place. But this was something nobody cared about., All they cared about was that even if it were just rumour, Song Ni who was specifically linked with Mo Zhen on multiple occasions had gone out and wildly seduced other men. That was the problem!

This is provocative, red fruit fruit provocation!

  2. きつね says:

Funny that they even bother with that women when they themselves believe that there was no romance between her. Crazy fans.

  3. ACC says:

So what made them believe it was the woman who went out and seduced others? What if she was the one being seduced?! The f* is with this? Can this be more ‘honey, it wasn’t me who cheated on you, she seduced me (and my d* just slipped and fell into her p*)!’?! Wow at the misogyny.
